Cheryl Cole made a very conveniently timed, post-World Cup announcement that she had, in fact, secretly married her French entrepreneur boyfriend Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini:
"I usually do not discuss my personal life but to stop the speculation I want to share my happy news... Jean-Bernard and I married on 7/7/14.. We are very happy and excited to move forward with our lives together..".
The news sent Twitter trends into overdrive, with hoards of Chezza fans screaming their "I love yous" and "OMG Cheryl, best person eva, miss you, bffl always" bullshit that left my eyes bleeding and my soul weeping. Among all of that malarkey were the tweets relating to that oh-so-awkward fact that Cheryl still, in fact, uses her ex-husband's surname for publicity purposes - a name that she once tried, and failed (thanks to the overbearing British public) to drop.
All in all, it would seem like these whirlwind romances are becoming the latest trend among celebs. Oh, you didn't know? Cheryl and Jean-Bernard have only been dating for three months. Yes, three. To be honest, it's no surprise that Cheryl is currently basking in an ethereal bliss right now as I'm pretty sure that most couples spare each other the middle fingers and behind-your-back wanker gestures until at least eight months in. Oh Cheryl, the best is yet to come...
